Restaurant Loon Sing

I heard a lot about this restaurant and always wanted to try out.Got very lucky today for having free meal at Loon Sing Restaurant(One of the pretty colleague's treat). This restaurant is famous for their "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall". We left office at around 6.30pm and took us only around 45 minutes to reach there from KL.

Restaurant has a very big compound. Therefore plenty of parking lots. Great place for wedding. There are 2 buildings side by side. One is the restaurant and another is the conventional hall which cater for bigger event like wedding.

Lets get to the exciting part. 1st dish: Buddha Jumps Over the Wall. One word to description, Awesome! Sea Cucumber, Abalone,Dried scallop, Shark fin(in one piece) and chicken. Hence make the soup taste very nice.

2nd Dish:World Treasure Pot. Stuffed "Yau Tiu", Jelly fish, Stir fried vege with Sliced Abalone and Stuffed bean curd.

3rd Dish:Bronze Metal Dong Poh Pork. Eat perfectly together with the "Man Tao". The pork taste a bit like "Char Siu" but more tasty as all the gravy absorb inside the pork.

4th Dish: Fish cook in Special Sauce. The fish is steam with sour vegetable(Mui Choy) + some Mexican chillies in it. If you love spicy food, there are plenty of soup for you to drink. The fish is really fresh.

5th dish: Hapiness Prawn. Minced prawns covered with shredded "won-ton" skin. Taste a bit like dim sum. In my opinion, I prefer to eat prawn as a whole piece and with shell attached.

6th dish: Braised Sea Cucumber with Fish Maw. Bean curd, vegetable, mushroom, sea cucumber and fish maw. After eating so many meat, this dish is definitely a must. I had few bad experiences with the Loh hon Chai where their bean curd smells funny. With this restaurant, everything is fresh and nice.

7th Dish:Sweet glutinous rice with yam. Yes, you here me right, it's sweet! Glutinous rice is surrounded by yam paste, taste a bit like moon cake lotus paste. On top of the glutinous rice is covered with ginkgo and kidney beans.

Last dish: Fish of Fortune. Look at the fish, is so lively swimming inside the longan ice. It's a jelly and make from dragon fruit. You can still bite the dragon fruit small seeds inside the jelly. Very refreshing drink.

Finally, how can a great dinner without some nice wine. :) The whole set cost around RM688++.

I would definitely come back to this restaurant with my family. With the price and quality of the food, I will give 8/10.

From 10th Jul 2008, Loon Sing Restaurant start serving Fu Zhou dim sum. Mon to Fri, 10am - 3.30pm. Sat and Sun, 8am-3pm. Open on public holiday as well.

Happy Merdeka Day!

Happy merdeka Day! Malaysia is now 51 years old, which means we have been independence for 51 years already. I feel this year atmosphere is not as strong as last few years. Remembered last year i still can see a lot of cars put a small Malaysian flag near their windows. This year, I only see one so far.

One more thing i notice this year is our Malaysian flag. Do we have a new flag? Back in my school time, I was taught this is our Malaysia Flag.

But I've been seeing a lot of this flag. All along federal highway. And the following is on my way up to Sunway Pyramid carpark.

The star is on the left and the moon is on the right? Someone please tell me, what's going on? Is that something that I don't know? Or Malaysian government has put up the wrong flag all over?

Berjaya Vacation Club

My family been a member of Berjaya Vacation Club(BVC) since 2000. BVC is using time sharing concept. Timeshare is a piece of property where it's ownership is shared by a number of people. Back then membership for executive is only RM10k(payback), now it increases to RM30k(non-payback). Here are some of the features of BVC executive membership.

1) 7 free nights(BVC home base hotel only) every year for the next 33 years.

I always been happy with BVC. I even got my free night at London. Until recently, I find it's very hard to reserve their hotel. I think i been rejected around 5-6 times this year for all my bookings. Only 1 reason, fully booked. I have to admit some is my mistake for submitting it late( 2 weeks before travel date), but some of it I submit earlier yet still being rejected. The one really pissed me off is my recent booking to Duxton, Singapore for my guest. Surprisingly, Duxton is not their home hotel even though it carries the name Berjaya Hotel. I submitted the booking on very early Aug, either 1st or 2nd. My first booking is 5-6th sept, second booking is 5th-7th sept. After 2 weeks, I called to check on the status, they told me for the second booking already rejected and they mailed to me. I wonder where did the mail went as I didnt receive any email from BVC. Then 1st booking, they told me still processing.

On 18th Aug, I called again, they told me still processing. 19th, called again, still processing, but they promise will get back to me. They even got my hp no. No reply on 19th. 20th I called again, promised to give me answer by evening. When i didn't hear from them at around 5.45pm, I called again, they told me will give confirmation on the next morning. Fine, I called in this morning, 21th, guess what, rejected.

I guess my request(1 month notice) may not have sufficient time for them to do the booking. Why can't they tell me earlier the booking is rejected. Now my guest has only 2 weeks to make another arrangement for hotel booking. It's his big day(Wedding day) and the room is for his guest. You know how frustrated it can be especially during your big day.

What's the point I get the 7 free nights but most of the time i can't fully utilize them? BVC should improve their service!!!
